Kazakhstan has published a new interim report on the investigation into the crash involving an Azerbaijan Airlines E190 aircraft, marking the first anniversary of the accident.
🔹 The report states that the damage observed on the aircraft was most likely caused by shrapnel originating from a warhead, while the source or ownership of the object has not yet been definitively identified.
🔹 Investigators noted that due to fire damage, part of the data from the aircraft’s systems could not be recovered, and efforts to retrieve this data are being carried out in coordination with a U.S.-based company.
🔹 Under ICAO Annex 13 standards, the authority conducting the investigation is required to publish an interim report outlining the work carried out to date and the reasons for any delay in the final report once 12 months have passed since the accident.
🔹 While some earlier official statements claimed that the disaster was caused by a Russian air defense missile, the published report was found to include only information based on verifiable technical facts, physical evidence, and aviation safety standards.
